1 tablespoon of yeast
1/2 cup of warm almond milk 3 1/3 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of orange zest
1/4 cup of orange juice
1/4 teaspoon of orange blossom tea
4.5 Ounces of vegan butter or coconut oil (room temperature)
To sprinkle on top:
2 tablespoons of vegan butter 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
Yield: 4 small pieces of bread
In a medium-sized bowl, mix the almond milk, the yeast, and 2 tablespoons of flour. Let the bowl rest In a warm place for 10 minutes.
Now combine the dry ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, and the orange zest).
Next, mix in the wet ingredients (orange juice and the yeast mixture) and add them to the bowl. Knead the dough for 20 or so minutes, or until the ingredients are well incorporated and the dough isn’t sticky.
Now cut the vegan butter into small chunks and slowly add them to the dough while you continue to knead it. Once you add in all the vegan butter, knead the dough for another 3 minutes.
The dough is done, coat a bowl with oil and place the dough inside. Let it rest for 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size. Once this is done, knead the dough well once again.
After this, separate a piece of dough roughly the size of a tangerine; divide the remaining dough into 4 parts, and form balls using your hands;
once make sure there is enough space between each ball of dough, place them into a tray.
Using the dough, make 4 small balls. Then divide the rest of the dough into 8 equal chunks. Using 3 fingers, stretch the dough to make it into “bones” (decoration on top of the bread.) Place 2 strips over each ball of dough in the shape of an X. Leave the 4 small balls over the tray.
Cover the tray with cloth and let It rest for about an hour, or until the dough doubles in size.
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 350° F (180 C.)
Using some water, paste the 4 small balls of dough over the central part of the decorated balls of dough; bake for 20-30 minutes, or until you the bread turns golden-brown.
Now, take the bread out of the oven and cover in aluminum foil and bake It for 10-15 minutes more.
Once your bread is done, decorate It with melted vegan butter and sugar if you like. Just make sure you let the bread cool down before you eat It. Finally, add Veganisimo Vegan Caramel, and you are done!
